It was 1884 when Twickenham had last returned victorious from the famous Henley course, and Vwaire Obukohwo ended the 137-year wait in commanding style by winning the Aspirational Single Sculls event. Storming through the early rounds by 'easily' beating Exeter RC, Oxford City RC and Grosvenor RC, Vwaire reached the final where Reading RC was waiting for her. Leading from start to finish she dominated the race to complete the clean sweep of 'easy' wins to pick up The Bernard Churcher Trophy with a time of 5m 27.9. This was an astonishing achievement, with Twickenham RC incredibly proud of Vwaire.
